Who We Are
A dead bike lock battery isn't a thing — that's the first fact that matters here. No electronics to fail, no app to update, just a dial or a key that either works or it doesn't. Ndakter builds combination and U-locks around that simple idea, and this site exists to walk through what those locks actually do well. We're writing for the person locking a commuter bike to a rack outside a café, the student chaining up on campus between classes, and the parent who just wants a fence gate that stays shut. Not a lifestyle brand. A lock brand.
The Products
The lineup covers two main approaches to bike security. On one side there's the 5-digit resettable combination chain lock, wrapped in polypropylene fabric so it doesn't chew up your frame, with a zinc alloy cylinder and alloy steel chain running from 2.62 feet up to 6 feet depending on the size you need. It's long enough to loop through 2-3 bikes at once, or around a fence post, a grill, a ladder, a lawnmower — anything with a fixed point to lock to. On the other side sits the heavier U-lock line, including a version with an 18mm hardened steel shackle rated to withstand up to 12 tons of hydraulic cutting force, paired with a 6ft steel cable for extra reach. There's also a 4-digit combination U-lock for riders who'd rather skip keys entirely. Between the chain lock, the keyed U-lock with backup brass keys, and the combo U-lock, the range stretches from bicycles and e-bikes to scooters, mopeds, dirt bikes, and fat-tire builds with wider forks.
Our Approach
We look at what the materials are actually rated to do. Hardened steel shackles, manganese and alloy steel chains, zinc alloy cylinders — these aren't marketing words, they're the reason a lock resists sawing, drilling, or a bolt cutter in a parking lot. We also pay attention to the smaller details that reviewers actually complain about elsewhere: a dust cover keeping grit out of a keyhole, silicone sleeves that stop rust and stop the lock from scratching paint, a reset process that doesn't require a manual. A lock that's technically strong but a hassle to use every day tends to end up unused, and an unused lock protects nothing.
